I like painting flowers and plants in watercolour quite abstractly. I love letting the pigments move freely to create beautiful shades. Very often I work in layers revealing new colours and shapes, sometimes adding lines of ink or pencil.
My art practice is very much driven by the joy of seeing colour and shape appear on a blank piece of paper.
Many of my pieces start from random marks. That's the case of the right hand side painting above. I sometimes find pieces of paper with colour samples or rejected pieces and fall in love with it again, then I start applying paint more deliberately until something new emerges. You could say I recycle my own work a lot!
